Speaking the Truth in Love

About The Book

Speaking the Truth in Love

This book mentions a part of the history of the “local churches” under Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, who spent many years together serving the Lord, mainly in China. Word concerning them came to a small group of believers in America who were favorably impressed with what they heard regarding their view of Christ and the church.

In 1962, Witness Lee was invited by John Ingalls and others to come to Los Angeles to help them enter into the vision and practice that Lee had carried out with Nee in China, endeavoring to raise up local churches meeting on the ground of oneness with other believers for an expression of God and the testimony of Jesus.

After many years of mutual bonding in the Lord, in 1990 a book was written by Brother Witness Lee and Living Stream Ministry that featured a description of a time of turmoil and division in the late 1980s. John was portrayed in a very negative light as the “ringleader of a rebellion” against him.

In response, John Ingalls wrote a book titled Speaking the Truth in Love, also in 1990. It changed my life when I read it in 1995. I drove down to Southern California and met the so-called rebellious ones. They should be heard.
